Vorrei che per una volta si potesse guardare al mare che fa della Sardegna un’isola e alle sue coste per quello che sono: frammenti articolati, complessi, diversificati che messi insieme raccontano storie di una continua evoluzione, con i suoi tempi lunghissimi, ma anche con le repentine trasformazioni, oggi più che mai. Vorrei che non si desse al mare, alle coste una connotazione storica, antropologica, mercantilistica. Vorrei che si guardasse ai paesaggi, alle forme, ai colori, alla miriade di organismi come ad un insieme naturale, non come un qualcosa da prendere, da sfruttare, da usare senza ritegno. Vorrei che diventasse chiaro che la natura di questo pianeta ha superato crisi inimmaginabili e supererà anche questa alla quale noi come comunità umana nel suo complesso la stiamo sottoponendo. 
Vorrei che meraviglia e bellezza fossero i sentimenti che si traducono in fatti. Vorrei che smettesse il chiacchiericcio ormai indistinto sulla conservazione, sulla sostenibilità, sul contrasto al cambiamento climatico, fatto di rivoli di buone intenzioni che si perdono  nell’enorme buco nero di un mondo dove tutto è mercantile. Vorrei che si iniziasse a trasformare le parole in principi e i principi in azioni concrete, in un cambio di paradigma. Vorrei che si capisse che se non cambiamo paradigma non sarà il pianeta a soffrire, ma saranno le comunità umane, proprio quelle che vivono lungo le coste, a partire dalle più povere. In questo sì, la Sardegna è un laboratorio per quello che coste e mare raccontano del passato e per quello che prefigurano per il futuro.

A journey around sardiniana sea
I would like for once that we could be able to look at the sea that makes Sardinia an island and its coasts for what they are: articulated, complex, diversified fragments that, when put together, tell stories of continuous evolution, with its very long times, but also with the sudden transformations, today more than ever. I would like the sea, the coasts not to be given a historical, anthropological, mercantilist connotation. I would like the landscapes, the shapes, the colors, the myriad of organisms to be looked at as a natural whole, not as something to be taken, exploited, used without restraint. I would like it to become
clear that the nature of this planet has overcome unimaginable crises and will also overcome the present one to which we, as a human community as a whole, are subjecting it. I would like wonder and beauty to be the feelings that translate into facts. I would like to stop the now indistinct chatter about conservation, about sustainability, about the contrast to global climate change, made up of streams of good intentions that get lost in the enormous black hole of a world where everything is mercantile. I would like to start transforming words into principles, and principles into concrete actions, into a paradigm shift.I would like it to be understood that if we do not change the paradigm, it will not be the planet that will suffer, but the human communities, precisely
those that live along the coasts, starting from the poorer.In this, indeed, Sardinia is a laboratory for what the coasts and the sea tell of the past and for what they prefigure for the future.
